xterm error question

Let me get this straight:

HostA and HostB are Linux boxes?

HostA and HostB are on the same network and not separated by a firewall?

You want to run an app on HostB and redirect the output to HostA, but
when you log into HostB and do export DISPLAY=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:0.0 and
then run the app you get nothing (you also do a xhost + on HostA
previous to running the app).

You currently cannot telnet or ssh from HostB to HostA?
You currently CAN telnet from HostA to HostB, what about ssh?
If you can ssh from HostA to HostB, try the 'xhost +' on HostA then 'ssh
-X user at HostB' , then run the app on HostB.
ssh -X should work even if you are separated by a firewall, but export
DISPLAY will not.
