if you like you can specify it, it might help:
ifconfig eth0 195.224.13.86 broadcast 195.224.13.255 gw 195.224.13.1 netmask
255.255.255.0 arp up
Why is the mac not showing? are you just showing 00 for the purposes of the
mail?
What happened with the tracroute?

There is no firewall on the outter network,
195.229.13.0 doesn't exsist.. should that top table look like this:
195.224.13.86 195.224.13.1 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth0
?

did you try "ifdown eth0" first?

what was the routing table after that "netstat -rn"?
When you bring up the network interface try using a MTU of 1300, I have seen
where there is an issue with certain firewalls.
also try doing a traceroute:
"traceroute www.yahoo.com"
This should tell you where you are getting hung.

That seem to work, I tried pinging again, and it seems to detect the ip of
the destination.. i.e. if I ping ns1.iapbb.net
ping ns0.iapbb.net
PING ns0.iapbb.net (216.127.80.104) 56(84) bytes of data.
216.127.80.104 being the ip of the nameserver.. so its somehow getting out
to the www?
