Hmm.  Well, I'd say you have two options (three, actually, but you
don't want to hear the third :-).

- If you have the specs on the card and monitor, you may be able to
  hand-craft your XF86Config file as we did in the old days before
  XConfigurator and the like.

- (More practical) I think there is an xfree86 mailing list that could
  be quite helpful.  Google for it.  I don't have the info at hand.
