Hi,

I have installed Redhat AS 2.1 on my PC: Intel PIV 512 mb memory with intel D845GVSR mother board.

During the installation, the mouse was detected. It's a microsoft two button serial mouse.
But after the installation, it goes undetected, unable to use it.

Any help in resolving the same is greatly appreciated.

When you say "not detected", how do you mean? What won't use it?

If you check the /etc/sysconfig/hwconf file, you should see an entry
that looks sort of like:

	class: MOUSE
	bus: SERIAL
	detached: 0
	device: ttyS0
	driver: msmouse
	desc: "Generic 2-button serial mouse"

(the text may vary...since I don't have a serial mouse I can't give you
the exact wording). If you see an entry such as that, kudzu (the
hardware finding tool) saw your mouse. If you're saying that X can't
use it, then you need to reconfigure X to use it. If you're trying to
use it in a non-GUI environment, make sure the "gpm" program is running
("service gpm start").

If you can give us a bit more information about what does and doesn't
work, we might be able to help you more.
