Hi,
I'm trying to update to mkinitrd 3.5.15.1-2 and

install of
lvm2-2.00.08-2

direction?
It would have been nice if you had told use what
version of OS you're
running. It appears that you're running FC1, since
the latest libdb4
for RH 9 is 4.0.
You need to update or install the db4 devel RPMs to
satisfy oprofile:
"yum update db4-devel" OR "yum install db4-devel"
(via yum)
"rpm -Uvh db4-devel*.rpm" (after downloading)
(via RPM)
If upgrading/installing oprofile via "rpm", you need
to add the
"--force" option to the command. Yumshould sort
that out for you
automagically.
Yeah, it would have been nice...forgot. I'm using RH9
("stock", installed off of downloaded ISOs). Should I
use the --force option for lvm2 also? I'm not sure how
the conflicts between lvm and lvm2 should be handled.
You should bottom-post in the future, VB.
You can do the "--force" for lvm2 to resolve the dependency issue.
That's a glitch in the new RPM and only affects the documents in
/usr/share/doc.
Uh, you'll need to downgrade your oprofile stuff as Red Hat hasn't
released a db4 or db4-devel RPM with libdb-4.1.so. That's only
available for Fedora Core. Should you wish to try to update to the
Fedora version, ftp://mirrors.kernel.org has links to them:
/pub/fedora.us/fedora/fedora/1/i386/RPMS.os/db4-4.1.25-14.i386.rpm
/pub/fedora.us/fedora/fedora/1/i386/RPMS.os/db4-devel-4.1.25-14.i386.rpm
/pub/fedora.us/fedora/fedora/1/i386/RPMS.os/db4-java-4.1.25-14.i386.rpm
/pub/fedora.us/fedora/fedora/1/i386/RPMS.os/db4-utils-4.1.25-14.i386.rpm
They should work, but I won't guarantee it.
