I had this exact same problem, except not with my USB mouse just with my USB keyboard. The only fix I found was to get a PS/2 keyboard, nothing I tried ever got the USB keyboard to work.

Hope you can find a way to get your USB keyboard to work, but if you can't just switch to PS/2. I did try a USB>PS/2 adaptor and that also didn't work for me. It had to be a complete new keyboard with only a PS/2 connection.

Hi,

I`m trying to install RedHat9 on a PentiumIII 1Ghz, 512MB Ram, MatroxG450
video card, Ibm LCD monitor, 2 HD (15 and 20 GB), 2 CD-rom drives, etc...

Both of my mouse and keyboard are USB

When i boot the computer, the initial setup screen appears and everything
seems normal. The mouse and keyboard are funtionning. Then, when i start
the installation process (tried every combination, lowres, text, noprob,
etc..)...when it arrives at the actual installation window, the mouse and
keyboard are no longer active!!!...so i can't progress with the
installation...

Any one had this problem? is it common?

If you can, try rebooting your system and get into the BIOS setup. See if it has "Legacy USB" enabled. If so, try disabling it and trying the install again.

Some BIOSes have problems with Linux and legacy USB handling on HID
(human interface devices) such as keyboards and mice.

I won't guarantee success, but it's worth a shot.
