panel doesn't show open/minimized windows...

...for some reason my minimized windows are not showing up in my 
panel. is there a way to fix this? i'm running redhat9 (2.4.20-27.9) 
and Gnome (default workstation install).

i used to be able to minimize open windows and they would show up in 
the panel (lower right side)...but that's not happening anymore. any 
ideas on why it's not working anymore?
