mzip from the mttols package

Hello Folks, well.. 2004 already! I hope everyone's 2004 started out
auspiciously. They say that as you get older, well, more mature, really,
each year goes faster than the one before it. I won't let on how old I
am, just let's say that 2003 went so fast I had trouble getting a focus
on it.

Can someone tell me if the mzip command, from the mtools package,
actually works? Every time I have tried to use it I get the message that
A: isn't a Zip drive. Is there a config file for it, or mtools
generally. My Linux Bible doesn't shed very much light on the subject
apparently assuming that it works without trouble.

TIA.

Graeme Nichols
