Hello Folks, well.. 2004 already! I hope everyone's 2004 started out auspiciously. They say that as you get older, well, more mature, really, each year goes faster than the one before it. I won't let on how old I am, just let's say that 2003 went so fast I had trouble getting a focus on it.
Can someone tell me if the mzip command, from the mtools package, actually works? Every time I have tried to use it I get the message that A: isn't a Zip drive. Is there a config file for it, or mtools generally. My Linux Bible doesn't shed very much light on the subject apparently assuming that it works without trouble.
The config file for mtools is /etc/mtools.conf. By default, any mtools program where you don't specify a drive will use a: and since that isn't your ZIP drive, you get the error.
which assumes your ZIP drive appears as /dev/sda and the active partition is partition 4 (which is pretty normal for preformatted ZIP disks). You may not need the "partition=4" bit. Good luck. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- - Rick Stevens, Senior Systems Engineer rstevens vitalstream com - - VitalStream, Inc. http://www.vitalstream.com - - - - Life: That which happens while you search for the remote control. - ----------------------------------------------------------------------
