Yikes, didn't have that file at all, but I do now. Did the restart and it's working, thanks much.

Ye GODS! That's really weird. The redhat-config-network script should have set that up for you. Ah, well, you did it by hand and it works.

Didn't I mention that my install got a little messed up?

No, you didn't. For shame!

Specifically I created a floppy boot image and then installed from the 3 CD set gotten from the Red Hat website. During the install package phase it got through all but the last three packages, totalling 3M out of 2,204 (or so) total. The installer complained about the cd and wouldn't let me out of there that I could find, so I finally rebooted.

I figured out that by booting off the floppy and rerunning install as an upgrade it just finished up. I still have to reboot with the floppy but the upgrade never asked about those last three packages. And when I ran the cd checker the first and second passed while the third one failed.

Oh, a bad CD. ALWAYS run an md5 checksum on your .iso images AND the burned CD at least once.

Anyway, it's all a learning experience. Or something.

Next time you'll know better.
