Doesn't work Rick, the screen seems frozen and won't accept any input from me.
You can try "kill -9 16891" to kill the mingetty on tty1, if that's what
you want to do. I doubt that's it. tty1 is the console "ALT-F1".

Yes. But apparently even though tty1 is waiting like tty2 etc.. tty1 is
never gonna get used (at least till I reboot) unless I can unlock that screen.
Remember that the process may have been orphaned, so "ps -ax | grep ed" to
see if it's still alive. If so, kill it with "kill -9".
[root penguin marty]# ps -ax|grep ed
9 ? SW 0:00 [kupdated]
17067 pts/0 S 0:00 grep ed
Hmm, what else could be up? BTW, how do I start using X?
