I have RedHat 9.0 installed.
I have a Lexmark E220 printer on a network using a jetdirect card. ALl my
WIndows PC's ( 3 ) can print with no problem.
I tried setting up the printer using GNOME Print manager. I selected E210
drivers ( showed up on the list ), I selected jetdirect and put in the proper
IP address.
When I print a test page, I get about 40 pages of garbage - 1 line per page.
I tried installing the Lexmark RPM package. WHen I use that to set up the
printer and scan my subnet, no printer is found ( probably doesn't recognize
the jetdirect device ).
I changed the settings to networked Unix lpd and still got garbage ( on an
acsii test print ).
Probably the e210 drivers are wrong. I can't figure out how to get the default
printer settings to use e220 drivers.
As bad as Windoz is, printer setup is a breeze!
