tar cvf /dev/st0 /

Am unable to track down the problem with getting
data on to the tape.
mount: can't find /dev/st0 in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab
How does one verify the proper drivers have been loaded?
I thought every device on the scsi bus would have been loaded or
mounted during the install and startup.
SCSI tape is SCSI tape and it should be detected. If you have the tape
drive on the same controller as the RAID, that could be your problem.
Typically, once a RAID controller is doing RAID, it usually doesn't do
anything else. You can look at either /var/log/dmesg or
/var/log/messages and look for lines like:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
scsi0 : Adaptec AIC7XXX EISA/VLB/PCI SCSI HBA DRIVER, Rev 6.2.8
<Adaptec 2940A Ultra SCSI adapter>
aic7860: Ultra Single Channel A, SCSI Id=7, 3/253 SCBs
blk: queue c24d0614, I/O limit 4095Mb (mask 0xffffffff)
Vendor: HP Model: HP35480A Rev: 1009
Type: Sequential-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02
------------------------------------------------------------------------
And
------------------------------------------------------------------------
st: Version 20030406, bufsize 32768, max init. bufs 4, s/g segs 16
Attached scsi tape st0 at scsi0, channel 0, id 0, lun 0
------------------------------------------------------------------------
(these are for my HP 35480A 4GB DAT drive on an Adaptec 2940U
controller).
