Hi,

Can we use Kernel 2.6 with RH9? Is it possible to upgrade default
kernel which comes with RH9?

Sure. I'm using it on an RH9 machine and FC1. There are a number of tools you need to upgrade before you can use 2.6.x (modutils, etc.). Go fetch the source and install it. Make sure you READ the "Documentation/Changes" file to see what you need to upgrade.

The build process is a bit different from what you're used to, and it
no longer uses "/etc/modules.conf", it uses "/etc/modprobe.conf".

The most important bit is to read the "README" file and the
"Documentation/Chages" file that are installed when you install the
source code. Also keep in mind that Red Hat doesn't yet support 2.6.x
in any way, shape or form, so you won't be able to ask them for help.
