VPN/PPTP on 8.0/9.0

Since upgrading from 7.0 to 8.0, I can't get VPN to work any more. Do I
need to regress to the previous versions of pppd, etc. to get it to work
again? Also, I have a 9.0 workstation and wonder if the same advice will
count for both.

Did I read a subject line about this and blow it off recently? hmmm.
