Hello there,

   I provide Internet access for youngsters too, and have found that a
cheap NAT router can help out quite a bit.  I have a Netgear RP614 that
allows me to set time-of-day usage and also provides some content
filtering.  I have Win, Mac, and Linux, and it works for all of these.
It's not perfect, but it's a start -
