Gnome as the default environement

Look in your menus for a "desktop chooser" or something to that
effect.  I don't use KDE, and I use GNOME only when I have to.  When I
select GNOME instead of my usual AfterStep or IceWM, a note pops up
after GNOME loads saying I can make GNOME my default by going to
(warning: faulty memory at work) Settings, and something after that.
