Ancient memory time:
I used to download HAL9000's sound files, and have the last task in system
startup be Hal's voice saying
"Good afternoon, gentlemen. I am a HAL 9000 computer. I became operational
at the H.A.L. lab in Urbana, Illinois on the 12th of January, 1992."
It was a sad day when rackmount servers stopped having speakers. Beeps
just aren't as much fun.
