Well am not sure if i understand your question , but i think you are
asking on
how to bypass the problem that appears when Windows overwrite the MBR with
grub ( lilo ) and put their own which of course loads only Windows .
In the above case you just boot from the first CD of your Linux
distribution and
select the rescue mode .
After that simply chroot /mnt/sysimage and then simply reinstall grub .
Usually entering
# grub-install /dev/hda
should do the work for you .
There was never a question of reinstalling linux , the only question was of
reinstalling the boot loader and only the boot loader .
