Since you can boot, but only via the recovery cd, try the following from the
"dos" prompt of the recovery cd/console:
fixboot
That simply fixes up the boot loader which will then attempt to boot the
active partition. I think It's the equivalent of the fdisk /MBR, but
available on the recovery cd/console.
