x not starting

Gang, while what Tyche said is useful, we need to know which version
of the OS you're running.

As to getting X to start up on boot, if you didn't initially install
in GUI mode, you must edit the /etc/inittab file.  Find the line that
reads:

	id:3:initdefault:

And change it to read:

	id:5:initdefault:

In other words, change the "3" to a "5".  The system will boot to GUI
mode on the next boot.
