I'd recommend using the ntp service for clock synchronization.

I setup a cron job with the following two lines:
0 3,6,9,12,15,18,21 * * * /usr/bin/rdate -s Valid.Time.Server.COM
5 3,6,9,12,15,18,21 * * * /sbin/clock -w
The first line runs daily at 3am, 6am, etc. Find a valid time server on the
internet, such as clock.psu.edu, or time.nist.gov, if they are close enough
to you. The second line writes the time to the PCs hardware clock. If those
commands aren't found, you can install them from the CD, I believe, though
on your version of Redhat, I'm not sure which packages they are in.
