Long ago I had an install problem similar to this, but
the drives were of the scsi variety.
After I ran a format on the hard drives the install
worked.
If you have another drive hanging around..or
try the install with a single drive.
I've installed Red Hat many many times, mostly because
when I play with it, I screw it up.
Don't give up, the experts are on this list
lurking with more ideas.
