Re: Issue in booting Vista with red hat linux

Hello,

Why not make Windows dual-boot the system? You can install any OS first. When you install Windows first and you're now installing Redhat, don't clear the MBR. Let it install the bootloader just on a partition on the hard-disk (/dev/hda6 for example).

You can then boot with the First CD or boot disk to get hold of the Redhat installation.

Then run dd if=/dev/hdax of=/bootsect.lnx bs=512 count=2
(where x is the drive your /boott partition resides in which is /dev/hda6 in this case)

You can then copy the /bootsect.lnx to windows partition. (assuming you have copied it to c:\bootsect.lnx)

Then edit c:/boot.ini in windows using notepad or using edit from command line.

Add a new entry like c:\bootsect.lnx="My Redhat" and save.

Thank you and regards,

Mobolaji
