Installing FC6 on Sony laptop

I'm trying to install FC6 on my wife's older Sony Viao laptop. This one
has no built in floppy or CD drive, but comes with a CD-ROM drive that
plugs in the PCMCIA slot. I can get the FC6 CD to boot in there, but it
then asks for additional drivers, apparently to read the CD that it has
already read. Any ideas as to what's going on?
Also, I note that Fedora 7 distributions seem to just be on DVD, which her
computer does not have, thus my try at FC6.
I also considered booting from USB, but the BIOS does not support that. Is
there any sort of DOS program (DOS box under Windows) that one can run to
tell it to boot off a USB flash drive? Windows knows the flash drive is
there, so it SEEMS there ought to be a little program that says "read this
drive..."
THANKS!
Harold
