Its probably a good idea to try and run the LiveCd version of almost any
Fedora version first, in order to see if it plays nicely with your
hardware. That way you get an idea how it will run on your processor,
video card, etc. Then just install from the LiveCD and use yum to do the
updates and/or add on whatever additional packages you require after the
install.
