About 6 months ago.  I think the problem is related to the media instead of
the drive itself.  Just look at the catridges and their containers.  I mean
the magnetic strip is clearly exposed and slides directly up against the
plastic wall of the container when revoved or insterted.  I'm on my 3rd disk
cartidge right now and try to be extrememly carefull in handling them.
Anyway, I'm not alone, check deja-news and see that many others have had
problems with them as well.  You might want to think about backing them up
if your storing critcal data on them as my guess is you've been lucky so
far.
