Re: <OT> Hughes DirecPC - great pricing

I know there is!  I don't know what.  We have a device at work ( TV station ) that is a remote commercial delivery system.
It's got a box, 5 buttons on the front and a 7" BW monitor built in, hooked to a Direct PC dish.  Also in the system are
NTSC video cards, serial ports and it runs off Linux.  You cannot edit anything since it doesn't have a keyboard.
But if you get a power glitch and it reboots, up comes Linux.  Once it has booted, you cannot get into the shell.
So there IS a direct PC for Linux.  I will look for some information.

Subject: <OT> Hughes DirecPC - great pricing

I know this is off-topic, but I thought some might find this of interest.  One of our local dealers is selling Hughes DirecPC for $49.95.  This is a complete set up.  PCI card, antenna and all.  No service obligation or anything is required to get this.  It comes with W95 and W/NT software, v2.0x, so it is the latest.

I have NEVER seen this at this low a price.  I bought mine last night and will install sometime over the holiday.  They say the pricing is good until Christmas.

There is Linux software available from a third party, although I don't know who.

If you are interested look at www.mychoice.net
