Strange thing with HOSTNAME

Hello !!!

127.0.0.1       localhost       localhost.localdomain
127.0.0.1       alpha           alpha.computers.org

That's my /etc/hosts. When I type 'hostname -f' I get 'alpha'. OK. But
when I type 'hostname -d' I also get alpha. And the same thing happend
when I type 'hostname -f'.

How come?
