looking for software raid references

anyone knows of good softw. raid references other than linas.org?  
unfortunately, the Software RAID Howto doesn't address the kernel 
patching issues, and  http://luthien.nuclecu.unam.mx/~miguel/raid that
it points to is no longer available...  anyone knows if there is a mirror
of the latter site?

should i use a beta or an alpha patch (for my 2.0.36 kernel) from 
ftp://linux.kernel.org/pub/linux/daemons/raid/?  is that the only patch
that's required?
