Compile ssh with the --with-libwrap option for tcp_wrappers/ssh support.
There's a bunch of log monitoring tools out there that will scan for
keywords and email you about them.  BigBrother comes to mind.  It would be
a piece-o-cake to write you're own and install it in cron.
