lpd printing

I am trying to print from LInux via lpd to a Postscript printer on an NT
box.  My files print as postscript language ascii files, rather than being
interpreted.  surely a configuration error.  Anyone know where I went
astray?  Documents sent from an lpr client on Windows-98 print fine, so I
suspect my error is on the linux client, not the NT server.
