: Well this is a first try.
: red hat 5.2 recently installed.
: Lastnight I finally corrected my irq numbering problem and now I can log onto my ISP. While everything looks good, connection made, able to ping the ISP, and netscape is operational. surfing that is.
:
: I tried doing a ftp download through netscape and it appears that it not only opened the file which was compressed but downloaded it to the active netscape window.
:
: What do I have to configure to get it downloaded as a file in compressed form?
:
: Thanks

This isn't actually an ftp problem; it's what Netscape attempts to do
when it recognizes the file you're trying to download as a mime type
it has an action for...like gzipped files. It will decompress them.
To avoid this, shift-click on the filename, and it will just save it
as you would expect.
