Have you looked at StarOffice. It has a M$Access clone as part of the package. I
succesfully copied and ran a simple database normally running on our Win machine
to see if SO could be used as an alternative. 

I found it less than obvious how to set a database up from scratch (at least in
SO40, haven't tried in SO50 yet) and I haven't tried setting it up to print
mailing labels which I would need to do if it was to replace the windross
database.
