Default Color depth in Xwin

Hi,

I don't have enough colors in Xwin to even get the Netscape Mail
client up in a readable format.   I had the color changed in the rhd
4.2-5.0 so Xwin would start up in 16 or 32 color, but I can not for
life of me remember how one does it.  Can someone please refresh my
memory?
