It's a Winmodem, and therefore will not work with Linux...
I even referenced their web page and checked the PDF file...
Take it back if you can. This modem does not have a UART chip on it. It is
purely a Windows modem.
The manufacturer saved $6.00/us by not including the support circuitry and
letting WinBlows emulate this...
