HELP: Upgraded glibc rpms, now have adm, nfs errors, CDE stalls

- Subject: HELP: Upgraded glibc rpms, now have adm, nfs errors, CDE stalls
- Date: Thu, 1 Oct 1998 14:52:34 -0400 (EDT)
This all started when I wanted to use xbru. I was getting errors and so
installed the latest xbru rpms for RedHat 5.0. Still got errors, so
followed the instructions on the bru web site to update the new glibc. The
RedHat errata stated that it was best to do a general update, so I
upgraded the following rpms:
amd-920824upl102.11.i386.rpm
glibc-2.0.7-19.i386.rpm
glibc-debug-2.0.7-19.i386.rpm
glibc-devel-2.0.7-19.i386.rpm
glibc-profile-2.0.7-19.i386.rpm
portmap-4.0-8.i386.rpm
texinfo-3.12-1.i386.rpm
Now, I get the following errors on startup and shutdown.
On startup, rpc.mounted, unable to register errors for rpc.mounted,
rpc.nfsd, and amd.
On shutdown, I get errors about amd nfs_fhget error, nfs_read_super_get
root inode failed.
And now, whenever I log into the Common Desktop Interface (I know, it's no
longer supported by RedHat) the login process stalls on the copyright
screen and then returns to the login dialog box. From there I've been
exiting and then starting X without CDE since it won't load.
The good news: I have xbru working at least!
Can anyone help me figure out what is wrong and how to correct it?
Any help much appreciated.
Below is my /var/log/messages file, fyi.
