According to the partition mini HOWTO
(http://sunsite.unc.edu/LDP/HOWTO/mini/Partition-3.htm) ext2 (the Linux
filesystem) doesn't suffer much from fragmentation even on heavily used
partitions. The HOWTO notes that there is a tool for defragging ext2 but it
is not up to date, so use at your own risk.
