Minicom lag problem

I am running Minicom-1.81-4 rpm that came with RedHat 5.1
I just installed it and have never had it working.
I tried running "cu -l /dev/cua2 -s 115400", but it gave me a bash:cu
command not found.
I also tried running "/bin/setserial /dev/ttyS2 auto_irq skip_test spd_vhi"
and then running "stty -a < /dev/ttyS2" which gave me:

speed 9600 baud; rows 0; columns 0; line = 0;
intr = ^C; quit = ^\; erase = ^?; kill = ^U; eof = ^D; eol = <undef>;
eol2 = <undef>; start = ^Q; stop = ^S; susp = ^Z; rprnt = ^R; werase = ^W;
lnext = ^V; flush = ^O; min = 1; time = 0;
-parenb -parodd cs8 hupcl -cstopb cread clocal -crtscts
-ignbrk -brkint -ignpar -parmrk -inpck -istrip -inlcr -igncr icrnl
ixon -ixoff
-iuclc -ixany -imaxbel
opost -olcuc -ocrnl onlcr -onocr -onlret -ofill -ofdel nl0 cr0 tab0 bs0 vt0
ff0
isig icanon iexten echo echoe echok -echonl -noflsh -xcase -tostop -echoprt
echoctl echoke

Running "/bin/setserial  -a  /dev/ttyS2" gave me:

/dev/ttyS2, Line 2, UART: 16550A, Port: 0x03e8, IRQ: 4
 Baud_base: 115200, close_delay: 50, divisor: 0
 closing_wait: 3000, closing_wait2: infinte
 Flags: spd_vhi skip_test

And running "cat /proc/interrupts" to check the in-use IRQs gave me:

0:      31885   timer
 1:       1094   keyboard
 2:          0   cascade
 5:          1   sound blaster
 8:          1 + rtc
12:          3   PS/2 Mouse
13:          1   math error
14:       2476 + ide0
15:          0 + ide1

I run Win98 also and I've never had an IRQ conflict with it.
I also noticed something else interesting. If I type in my username and
password 15-20 seconds before the username and password prompts appear I can
log on. The when I logout to disconnect the connection status indicator in
the lower right corner changes from Connected to Disconnected almost
immediately, but "logout" and "NO CARRIER" don't appear on the screen for
another 15-20 seconds. All of the ALT menus such as ALT-Z appear right away
and I don't have any problem there.
I noticed that when I run "stty -a < /dev/ttyS2" it lists "speed 9600 baud"
which seems really slow. I don't really know what that speed is for, so I
didn't look into trying to change it. Thanks to everyone who is helping me
with this.
