Not sure about the lightest but, I know there're versions that will
from strictly from floppy.
All you really _must_ have is the kernel and a few support utilities,
no matter what distro.

Yep, just a little more expensive and smaller (2.5") than the desktop
models.
Same problems: bios not able to recognize beyond certain limits in some
models. Can be fixed with a newer bios if you have that problem. May
not matter if you partition with a small boot partition or boot from
floppy since linux can handle large disks.
