Hi All,
Suddenly I cannot play (i.e. browse) Web stuff on my own system.
Netscape now always gives me the following message:
"A Network error occurred, unable to connect to server
(TCP Error, Network is unreachable). Try connecting later."
When I looked at /var/log/messages, I notice the following:
.....
kernel: Linux PCMCIA Card Services 2.9.12
kernel: Kernel build: 2.0.32 #1 Tue Nov 18 21:51.33
kernel: Intel PCIC probe: not found.
cardmgr[182]: starting, version is 2.9.12
cardmgr[182]: no sockets found!
cardmgr[182]: exiting
.....
What does it mean by "no sockets found"? Is my PCMCIA card dead?
Can I do something other than replacing the hardware (which I
guess is my LAN card at this point)? How can I probe the PCIC?
My system: Toshiba Tecra 730CDT Notebook, running RH5.0 with Apache.
The LAN card is 3Com EtherLink III, 3C589D
Any comments or help will be greatly appreciated!
Philip
