PCMCIA Modem problem (fwd)

Hi,

I have a LINUX running on my Laptop which I just bought in June this
year and so far, everything seemed to work alright. I also bought a
serial modem and first used it under Windows 95. But I also tried to
get it to work under LINUX, which was quite a hassle. About a week
ago I finally succeeded in dialing into university with a dial-up
script I got from a university in Germany. I was able to login, start
telnet, netscape etc. etc. But after closing the session with
"killall pppd" as proposed in a little note coming with the script
and shutting down my system, the next day, the PCMCIA card was not
recognised anymore but taken as an 'anonymous memory card'. Even if
I load the appropriate module 'serial_cs.o' and set my COM-port,
I cannot access the modem. I then tried to use it under Windows 95
again but that also didn't work as Windows 95 was no longer able to
identify the card in the PCMCIA slot.
I'm not sure what can be the reason for this problem. Does anybody
else have a comparable problem or maybe even know how to solve it.

Philipp
