so far, so good. if you boot from your SCSI disk, you will also need to
re-run mkinitrd in order to build an initial ramdisk with support for the
new card. then you have to edit /etc/lilo.conf (if your initrd file
has a re-run lilo.

i've swapped out SCSI controllers before, and those three steps (change
/etc/conf.modules, followed by mkinitrd, then re-run lilo) have always
worked for me.
