Is there a slick way to make different kernels happy?
Clearly if I usually run 2.2.5 (or whatever) this will suit, but if I
routinely run differing versions one will always complain. Myself, I
can live with this is they're just warnings but a clean way (eg a
kernel which look for /boot/System.map-version or such) would be neat.

The next important thing to do was to throw away sendmail (which doesn't
work) and install smail. I honestly cannot understand why anybody who
has a choice runs sendmail. It's the worst piece of software I've ever
