Preventing RELAY for sendmail8.8.8

I am running sendmail8.8.8 and need to prevent relaying.

I have read http://www.sendmail.org/antispam.html and modified my 
sendmail.cf file with the "Preventing Relaying Through Your SMTP Port"
section of the doc.

I have created my sendmail.cR [with vi] static text file in /etc and 
addedd FQ names eg: mail.goodone.com

It does not detail what i need to do next to apply the changes ?

If anyone has done this or can list the next steps i would be very 
gratefull: Note i am not a guru.!!
