Look at /etc/ppp/ppp-on-dialer. It is the script which is failing. Your
server is apparently answering you; it probably wants you to respond in some
manner. Try logging in to the server using minicom to see exactly what the
server is sending/or requesting, such as "ogin:", "name:", etc. Another
alternative is to run the command under strace, but be prepared to peruse
lots of info, and you probably should understand system calls to make the
fullest use of the output. Good luck...I fought this beast for a week...and
it STILL doesn't work as I want it. Sheesh!
