This leads to two questions that I would love an answer to:

1. Is it possible, using mkdev or some other command to establish
a separate chunk of memory as a ram disk, and then to use it as the
swap file? Is there any reason why this would not provide greater
speed and efficiency in running linux on laptops considering the
speed of even flash memory? I gather that it's *got* to be better
than resorting to any hard-drive.

2. If this is possible, then why is it not considered desirable?
2a. If this is possible and desireable, how would
      one go about it?

Thanks in advance for the input.

Mark
