POP Mail Setup

Hi All,

several posts ago my list of problems included, DNS, httpd and POP mail.

Well thanks to several folks I'm down to the last one... POP Mail.

I loaded the IMAP rpm from my 5.1 CDs...

I setup a user and sent e-mail to that user on the linux box using elm.

I then logged in as the user, fired up Netscape Messenger pointed it to
the machine
and started receiving mail..

The machine retrieves the mail fine, but cannot send...

It just goes into "Connect: Contacting host linux.abdelsoft.com..."

and eventually bombs out unable to contact the machine...

note, I can ping the machine's IP 199.1.1.2 fine, and DNS resolves this
fine both by
name and address...

What am I doing wrong?

Any help, ideas, comments. suggestions are welcome.
