Well, for what it's worth this box has made it all the way from 3.03
to 5.2 with minor hiccups. I seem to be seriuosly hosed & limping at
present, having upgraded to 6.0. Wish I had a better backup than what
I have. Lots of things missing with rpm -Va. Didn't put everything on
the multiple partitions I have assigned & always worked for
directory/mountpoints. I suppose that'll teach me. It's looking like
back to scratch, only with the disadvantage that alot of what I had
probably won't build. 

Yes, I checked the rpms first. I downloaded them, even though in the
past I've either bought the CD directly or from the store. I did
however, before starting do an rpm -K on everything. I'm not a latest
& greatest kind of guy, but had confidence & was anxious to get it.

I suspect the clean install will go better- unfortunately, I have no
non production boxes & don't have 79 bucks.
