Installing Parallel Zip -- What's the best way?

Dear friends:

Using RH 5.2

Earlier I had asked for help in using the Kernel Configurator to install
to configure my parallel port Zip100. I chose the scsi-hostadaptor, then
ppa, but don't have a clue as to what I should enter in the options box. 

What are other ways are there to configure it.

The method in my Using Linux book kinda works but causes problems, too.

I wonder if there are a number of different ways to do it. The simpler,
the better. 

I will then have to alternate between my printer and the Zip drive. No
problem, there. Just a simple command change. So whatever solution I
adopt must take that into consideration.
